Transgender Day of Remembrance (& Looking Forward)

November 20, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

People often spend Transgender Day of Remembrance reflecting on the hundreds and thousands of trans lives lost each year.

We suggest something additional: let’s stop and ask ourselves how we can support trans people in Yellowknife so that no more lives are lost.

Join us at 4:00pm at the Northern United Place Chapel for some words from local trans+ and allied Yellowknifers, and to share a moment of silence with our community.

4:00pm – Welcome
4:15pm – Words from Our Community
4:30pm – Moment of Silence & Message Writing

The space will be open from 4:30pm onward for moments of silence and message writing.

We also invite you to share your memories of friends, family or loved ones who lived on the gender variance spectrum and reflect on moving forward.

We will have candles to light for loved ones, as well as space for you to write a message to Yellowknife’s trans+ community: those that have been lost and those that continue to thrive.
